Yoga On Location: Union Square
Taking our NYC yogini one step further I took my up my friend yadana’s suggestion to try to do yoga around NYC. Our first stop, Union Square. It seemed fitting considering the high concentration of yoga studios around union square, and of course that yoga also (can) mean union. We found Union Square to be as always bustling. Live vocalists and displays for Asian America / Pacific Islander month, the ever lively green market, vendy trucks hawking art and snacks, and the staple artists vending their wares. Combined with the balmy spring air, it was a perfect to day to do sun salutations where you can actually see the sun.
Some photos from our day outside, struggling to not focus on the chicken bones we found in the grass as we heaved and hoed up our latest arm balances. While I may not like to acknowledge this, but honestly there’s nothing like core strength (translation:abs) to help you get up. Because no amount of “pressing down to lift up” is going to lift the bottom half of your body - especially when its’ had one too many donuts.
